The City Girls Event - Sheffield

Last weekend I popped along to the The City Girls event held in Bloo 88, West Street, Sheffield. I was excited for this event, not only because it was a Sheffield Blogger event, but the fact that it was held at Bloo 88 meant pizza and cocktails. I have been to Bloo 88 before and instantly became a huge fan. I love the pizzas which are all made in the clay oven, and if you sit close enough, you can watch the chef at work.

It has been a few months since the last Bloggers event I attended, so it I felt it was a great time to have a catch up with some Bloggers and see some friendly faces as well as hopefully some new ones. It's always good to meet new Sheffield Bloggers.

When i first arrived at the event, I headed to the bar to grab myself a cocktail (...or two...). It would have been cheeky not too really! We had time to mingle before we headed upstairs to meet the brands and Lorna and Lucy. The brands were Benefit, Panache, Lush, Cinnamon Bun Designs and Second Thread. The charity for the event was City Hearts, a Charity which helps vulnerable women and provides them with support and guidance during a turning point in their lives. City Hearts did a raffle and gave away lots of prizes from nights out vouchers and goodie hampers to beanbags and doormats. I managed to be very lucky with the raffle and win vouchers for Bloo 88, a gin school, a cocktail class and some Johanna Bassford notebooks!

The event was really casual so it meant we could mingle and catch up with each other and go around to talk to the brands. I perfer informal events like this where there is no rush to speak to all of the brands and you aren't being talked at by just one brand from the event. This then allows me to ask any questions I may have about the brand and you get to know the face behind the brand.

I managed to get my eyebrows mapped by Benefit, I have been meaning to do this for a while now but I haven't actually got around to it yet, so this was a great opportunity to see if they were on point or if I needed any pointers to help them look a little better. My eyebrows weren't far off from the mapping so they were just darkened a little, which I do usually stay away from from when I had light blonde hair as I didn't want them too look too unnatural, like caterpillars stuck to my face. After my eyebrows were more filled in they did look more defined, so I may try to recreate this look again.

I spoke to a nice lady who worked for Panache, she talked to me about the brand, which is based in Sheffield and they have a shop really close to me, so i will be making sure I pop in to get some new sets. I was measured up to see if I was wearing the right size bra, as I have never been measured before I was pretty sure I would be really far off, but actually I was almost spot on so that was good.

I then popped over the Lush ladies, a brand which I love and love talk about. There is always a new product which I have yet to discover and try. The ladies were talking about the Catastrophe Cosmetic face mask, which isn't one which I have ever tried. They were making this for us all to take away, I am always fansicated to see them make the products, as they make it look so easy! They also talked about the Mother's Day range and Yummy Mummy, which I fell in love. It is a body conditioner which is so effortless to apply and it smells amazing. I have been using this everyday since I got it last week and every time I shower. I can't help but smell myself as it is that good!

I loved the event it was great to meet Lorna and Lucy and they are planning more City Girl events, so be on the look out for an event near you and make sure you pop along if you get the chance!

The goodie bag from the event was amazing! I am hoping to do a blog post about the contents, as it deserves a post all to itself. The Voss water bottle has been super handy to pop into my handbag for work!
