Why Do People Wear Make Up?

Hi,

This morning while i was rushing around to get ready, today i set my alarm to be extra early for my new job. I should have had lots of time but i stressing about what to wear and how i was going to do my makeup. Then i suddenly thought that if i never wore make up? If i never wore it to work people would not even notice. I know my family and friends notice if i don't have some BB creme on or a little foundation as they say i look ill.

Then i started thinking why do i even bother with make up? A year ago i wore hardly any make-up and i would say that i was pretty clueless and i just copied what my mum and friends showed me. The  only make up i feel i need is mascara as my eyelashes are blonde so my eyes look tiny and some coverage on my face as i do have blemishes. Apart from that i am little unsure why i bother, it just takes time and effort. I am fully aware this makes me seem like the worse bblogger ever but i have thought about it allot today.

At weekends when i am pottering around the house or nipping to the shop i will happily go bare faced and i don't seem to scare anyone so it can't be that bad. I love being lazy at weekends with my hair in a top knot and bare faced, i feel so fresh. I think it does my skin a world of good too, its like my skin has a break too! I know people who wouldn't dare to go bare faced with their boyfriends and i think its a bit odd. Are people really that insecure about their own appearance?

I wear makeup to make me feel more confident about my appearance and i do it because i enjoy it. I love trying new products and testing them out on face. I think it has became more of a want that a need as i could happily pop into town with no make up or go home for the weekend.

I was not brave enough to go to work with no make-up but i am considering going make-up free this weekend. I am tempted to do this to see what people think and if they say anything. I think other than my family, nobody would say 'you look awful today'. As i am pretty sure people won't even notice, that is what i like about living in the city. As i only know a handful of people in Sheffield it is not like i am going to pop into someone i know, hopefully.

  1. I was thinking about this today too. I've been dependant on makeup to make me feel 'confident' for too long. I guess I use it as a mask but really, what can a few products hide?! Xx

  2. I'm the same, I don't wear make up at home but I would for work! I wrote a similar blog post a while ago if you were interested (http://cantshutitup.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/you-dont-need-to-wear-make-up.html). And I'm so jealous you live in Sheffield, I love Sheffield!
